LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship applications open and close within a short window. Connect with a KSP staff member for support with preparing for and completing the process.

The KSP team has gathered information about scholarships for UH community college students. For each scholarship below, you will find details such as when to apply, who is eligible, and other requirements for applying. Each scholarship is different, so we encourage you to take the time to look at each one for specific details.

Students are encouraged to begin with the University of Hawai‘i Common Scholarship, HawaiÊ»i Community Foundation and Star Student Scholarship sites as they connect to multiple scholarship opportunities.

Kamehameha Schools 

OPEN: Oct. 1, 2020

CLOSE: Jan. 15, 2020

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Hawai‘i resident

  • Full-time student

  • Degree-seeking student

  • Have financial need

  • Meet maximum funding guidelines

The Kamehameha Schools Scholarship offers Native Hawaiian students scholarship funding to students with that show financial need. Student can prepare for this scholarship by completing their CSS profile, checking their emails for the KS NET PARTNER information, and preparing the required documents listed on the site.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Native Hawaiian Ancestry

  • Resident of Hawai‘i

  • Received a High School Diploma or higher

  • Not receiving Kamehameha Schools financial aid for Post-secondary education

  • Maintain a 2.0 or higher

  • Be enrolled at least half-time in vocational degree

Hana Lima Scholarship Program (HLSP) offers scholarship aid opportunity to Native Hawaiian students that are taking vocational or technical education programs. Students interested in this scholarship will need to check the site for updates.

OPEN: Nov. 16, 2020

CLOSE: Feb. 1, 2020

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Be a resident of the state of Hawai‘i

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Attend an accredited two or four year not for profit institution within the United States

  • Be a full-time student

  • Maintain a minimum 2.7 GPA

The Hawai‘i Community Foundation portal will require students to make an account. Students can prepare for this scholarship by having a Personal Statement that answers the questions provided by the foundation. Students will be asked to provide their Student Aid Report (SAR), most recent transcript, as well as short essays or other documents for additional scholarships. Please check their, "How to Apply" page for more information.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Students must be attending either a two- or four-year accredited institution in the state of Hawai‘i

  • Full-time student pursuing an undergrad degree or grad degree

  • Half-time student pursuing an undergrad degree or grad degree

Student's can prepare for this scholarship by having 3 personal statement essays, a list of extracurricular/community services, and their school transcript.

CLOSE: March 1, 2020

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Be of native Hawaiian Ancestry

  • Enrolled at one of the 10 University of Hawai‘i campuses

  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA

  • One letter of recommendation

The University of Hawaii - Office of Hawaiian Affairs (UH-OHA) Hoʻonaʻauao Higher Education Scholarship Program provides opportunities for students to receive financial support at any UH campus.
